Reese Martin Endowment

On Wednesday June 6th, the Mercer Elementary School in Princeton WV was given and endowment in the name of Reese Allen Martin. The endowment is perpetual and every year the Mercer Elementary third grade class will now go on a field trip sponsored by this endowment.

This year, Mr. Calvert (School Principal) was presented with a check to establish and maintain the fund. Next year, and every year thereafter, will be a field trip at the end of the year known as the "Reese Martin Outing".

This years outing took place at the Bluefield City Park where all the third graders were treated to a barbeque cook out. Following the cookout, the school had awards day for the 6 third grade classes at that Mercer has. Trips proposed for future outings include Pipestem State Park, the Indian Village in Virginia and a trip to the gemstone mine at Virginia City on Big Walker Mountain.

The endowment fund was established by Allen, Ann, Kim, and Scott Martin so kids could experience something they might otherwise not get to experience. People wishing to contribute may contact us here at the website or they can contact the Mercer Elementary school direct. Please take a look at the photos from the first outing.
